The Wegovy price per month is not one number, because there is more than one way a prescription can be paid for. Each path has its own rules, and the same person can get very different answers depending on which path is used.

The three payment paths
The first path is an insurance claim. The pharmacy bills your plan, the plan applies its rules, and you pay your share. That share depends on formulary tier, deductible progress, copay or coinsurance, quantity limits, and pharmacy network.
The second path is a self-pay or direct program from the manufacturer, which has published terms and eligibility rules.
The third path is a plain pharmacy cash price, with no claim submitted. Cash prices vary by pharmacy and are set by the pharmacy.
These paths are usually mutually exclusive for a given fill. Mixing a number from one path with a number from another is the most common way people end up with a wrong estimate.
What the manufacturer currently publishes
Novo Nordisk's official Wegovy cost and coverage page is the source to check for current self-pay and savings terms, because those terms change.
As currently advertised, the page describes a limited introductory self-pay offer of $199 per month for the first two months at specified starting doses, followed by $349 per month. It lists a different amount for the 7.2 mg pen, and it describes separate terms for a tablet dose.
Those are program prices with eligibility requirements, dose restrictions, and end dates. They are not a quote for any individual, and they are not what an insured claim will produce.
For commercially insured people whose plans cover the prescription, Novo Nordisk's official savings page describes a separate savings offer with its own maximums and restrictions. People enrolled in federal health care programs are generally excluded from commercial savings offers.
Comparing numbers fairly
Before you compare two prices, normalize three things.
Normalize the days supply. Confirm whether a number covers 28 days, a calendar month, or a three-month prescription.
Normalize the dose. A starting dose and a maintenance dose can carry different program prices and different plan rules.
Normalize what is included. A program price may cover only the medication. It may not include a clinical service fee, laboratory work, or shipping.
Then ask what happens after the promotional period. An introductory monthly figure that changes after two months is a two-month number, not an annual one.

Ask the plan for a written coverage decision and the specific criterion at issue. If it was denied, read the appeal rights in the notice, because deadlines are short.
Ask the pharmacy for its cash price, and check the current official manufacturer terms for any self-pay route you might qualify for. Compare those to your insured share on the same days supply.

The service fee covers clinical evaluation, ongoing clinician check-ins, and coverage support. Medication is dispensed by a state-licensed pharmacy only pursuant to a valid prescription issued by a licensed clinician after a clinical evaluation, and the pharmacy bills for it separately. Laboratory services, when clinically appropriate, may also be billed separately.
